Maiah Cossill

Kia Ora, my name is Maiah and I am the intermediate tutor at Clay Studios.

I hail from a small village in Northland called Te Kopuru and moved to Tāmaki Makaurau many moons ago to try my hand at university. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science it quickly become apparent I was missing the arts in my life so starting looking for somewhere to channel my creative juices. I decided on pottery after being inspired by my own mother’s exploits and I’m very lucky to have found a passion for life.

 

Day to day you’ll find me in my home studio throwing dinnerware and various vessels, trying out new glaze combinations, or dabbling in a selection of hand-building projects. When I’m not glued to my wheel you’ll find me in the veggie garden, tending to my indoor plants, practicing Te Reo Māori, or more often than not hanging out with my little staffy, Chicken.
